5 week yoga sutras meditation course - online course

Gain mastery over thought for a happier and fuller life.

meditation course

with Komal Dadlani

A 5 -week meditation course based on the text written by Patanjali Maharishi, the “Raja Yoga Sutras”. This course does not require previous experience with meditation but is especially appealing if you have taken previous introductory courses in any discipline.

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are meticulous analysis on the constructs of the mind with invaluable insights on how to gain mastery over thought for a happier and fuller life. Every sutra is an aphorism with powerful instructions inspired by Patanjali’s intensive meditation practice. It is a relic of the Raja Yoga tradition or the “Royal Path of Mind Control” with precise guidance on how to transcend disruptive thought patterns and realise yourself beyond pain, stress, regret and emotional discomfort.

It is an excellent companion to those who wish to make meditation a part of their daily life and complementary to all meditation traditions.

In this course you will learn:
Where do my thoughts come from and what are they made of?
What is my mind made of and what are its different components?
How can I silence my thoughts?
How to increase the prevalence of positive thinking?
The 5 different thought waves and how to control them
The 5 different states of mind
Sources of mental suffering and how to transcend them
The 9 obstacles to meditation
What is Ashtanga Yoga? : Tools for a better meditation practice
How to improve my concentration during meditation?
Ten behaviors conducive to a better meditation experience
The relationship between mind and breath
What is the difference between concentration, meditation and Self-Realisation?

Each 1 hour session will involve: 15 minutes meditation & 45 minutes of theory

Please note that the bulk of this course is the study of the Raja Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. There is a “warm up” meditation practice at the start of each session, but the greater part of the hour is allocated to the study of the yoga sutras themselves as a foundation for a continued meditation practice, either at a subsequent meditation class or for your own home-based practice.
