Winter can be a challenging time for your digestive season. The loss of sunlight, irregular sleeping habits and the extreme weather conditions can have uncomfortable consequences. Fire up your digestive system with this 2.5 hr. workshop focusing on breathing techniques and asanas to reset your gut power.

“Yoga for Better Digestion” is an asana and pranayama routine built upon the basis of Hatha Yoga & Ayurveda principals. During this 2.5 hour Hatha Yoga practice, Komal will share with you key asanas and breathing exercises with specific guidelines on how to alleviate digestive discomforts, such as constipation, flatulence, heartburn, loose bowels and others.

Every chakra in the body is responsible for a specific physiological function. In ‘Yoga for Better Digestion” we focus on massaging the middle and lower abdomen to reestablish the correct flow of prana (energy) throughout manipura chakra (navel centre), which is responsible for effective nutrient breakdown and creating new components; and swadisthana chakra (sacral centre), which is responsible for waste disposal, both physical and subtle.

The intensity of the massage and point of stimuli, which you will learn to discern during the workshop, will determine the effect achieved over Vatta and Pitta doshas, responsible for air-type imbalances, such as flatulence and eructation; and fire-type imbalances, such as heartburn and diarrhea, respectively.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • what triggers vatta and pitta-type imbalances at the level of the digestive system. How to recognize the symptoms for each;
  • how to access manipura and swadisthana chakras effectively;
  • asanas and pranayama for vatta/air-type imbalances;
  • asanas and pranayama for pitta/fire-type imbalances;
  • how to incorporate these postures and breathing exercises into your yoga routine and daily life;
  • other ayurvedic guidelines to support a better digestion.


    Please fast for 2 hours before the workshop and refrain from coffee, alcohol and cold drinks, including kefir, milkshakes and smoothies.. You can have a small snack just before if you get hungry again (fruits, nuts). This workshop is not advisable if you are in the first two days of your menstrual cycle. All levels are welcome. It is suitable for both male and female and all levels are welcome. Please bring a pen to take notes.
